Family Zoo Day

So a couple weekends ago, we set out on crossing more off of our "Fall To Do List".  Next up was a trip to the zoo!  With the hot weather in the summer, it had been a long time since we took a trip there.  And an even longer time since all 4 of us went!  But on this Saturday it was GREAT weather and we were looking forward to spending a fun day just the four of us.  I LOVE family days!!

We got up early and headed out to the zoo.  Eric and I were talking in the car about the days when the girls were little and we were set to "schedules" - bottles, naps, etc.  Seems like yesterday that we were doing that, and now we have these "big kids". I love it!!    First stop was the giraffe tower.  They loved looking out at everything:

The girls each wanted their own maps, and they became our guides.   Ella was funny and would be very serious and say, "Now....according to my map....".  Ha!

This is a neat little cave that I think they could have spent hours in.  They loved it!

Of course we had to take a peak at the baboons.  I think this is one of my favorites because they are right close to us.  I think this guy was having a starring contest with Ella and Abby:

So two years back when my parents were here at Christmas time, my mom was a good Grammy and rode the camel with Ella.  She LOVED it!  (Which surprised us that she even wanted to do it!)  She still talks about it and really wanted to ride it again today.  Being the good mommy, I hopped on board and Abby wanted to as well (another surprise!).  They had a BLAST!!!!  No tears or fears or anything!!  (Not even from mommy! Ha!)

The zoo has lots of really cool statues and stuff to explore:

We headed on down to the petting zoo and hung out with the goats.  Ella said that she wanted to pet every goat in there....and I think she did!!  Abby was reluctant at first and just wanted to hold my hand, but soon she was chasing after Ella and they held hands going from goat to goat.  Such good sisters!

Now with my girls, a zoo trip would not be complete without a ride on the "merry go round".  (I think they could ride this all day long!)

Turned out to be a great day!!  (And I swear Eric was there too - he just happens to always be the one behind the camera. LOL)  We were even able to get our Zoo Lights tickets which we are counting the days to going to before Thanksgiving.

Afterwards we headed home and even treated the girls to "Old MacDonald's" for lunch.  (Yes, they still call it that.  Pretty cute!)

Thanks for a great day!!
