Fun in the sun, bikes, ducks, and.....fish??

On Monday, since everyone was feeling 100% (thank goodness!!) we decided to take advantage of the GORGEOUS weather that day.  Eric had the day off for Memorial Day, and we wanted to do some fun family things.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day (not too hot, a little breezy....pretty much "perfect"!) so we took the girls on a long bike ride over to the local pond.  

The girls LOVE bike riding!!  Ella has gained so much confidence on hers and likes to zoom on ahead and to try to race you.  (Seriously, she is fast!  I get a little work out running along side her!)  Abby has done great as well and is really getting the hang of it.  We are so proud of both of them!

When we got to the pond area, the girls took off running all around the grass playing tag, and of course chasing birds.   Those poor birds! Ha!!  We brought some bread to feed the ducks as well.  Usually there are about 20 ducks or so, but today there were just a couple.  Our favorite was this mommy duck with her little ducklings.

So cute!!  Since those were the only ducks around really, they got quite the feast!

Well....until the fish came to eat.  Yep...FISH.  These fish are HUGE too!!  They come right up to the surface and inhale the bread crumbs!  It really is UNBELIEVABLE!!  It was hard to get a picture of them, but hopefully you get the idea:

Ugly little suckers too!  (ha!)  They would come right up with WIDE mouths and then splash away.  One even came right to the edge (frightened the girls a bit because of how close he was) and I thought he was going to be like a beached whale and get stuck there because he was pretty much all the way out of the water.  Crazy!!

After the bread was gone, the girls ran around the grass playing tag and then hide and seek behind the trees for a long time.   Eric and I kept talking about what a great day it was and how lucky and blessed we are.  It was just one of those "perfect family days".   =)
