First Annual Girls Weekend

There is just something to be said about "old friends", you know?  I first met Ann on the first day of second grade.  We had just moved that summer and were still in the process of building our house.  I remember meeting Ann by the cubbies in Mrs. Lake's class.  I was so excited:  We had the same initials, blond hair and blue eyes, AND were both building houses on the same street.  Yes....my mom had thought that I made up an imaginary friend.  Ha!  Then two years later I met Emily.  Her family moved into our neighborhood and I was so excited that there would be another girl my age!  She was just a bike ride away and many days were spent riding bikes to and from each others houses.  The three of us became the BEST of friends and we were in-seperateable:

I have such great memories with these girls!  Sleepovers, swimming in the summer, playing outside, hanging out at school, talking about boys, 4th of July neighborhood celebrations, LOTS of laughter, and MUCH more!!

As we grew up our paths led us each down different paths.  We all went away to different colleges and started our "adult lives".  We lost touch and had different moments of reconnection, but it really wasn't till a couple of years ago that the three of us really started to reconnect.  It was amazing because it was like no time was lost at all and we were back eating pizza rolls and watching Duck Tales, or giggling about the Jr. High dances and crushes we had.  I think the great thing about old friends, is that time is really never lost.  You just jump right back into it.  =)

So it was decided that we would stop TALKING about how great it would be to all three get together again, and actually DO IT.  =)   This last weekend both Emily and Ann flew into town and we had our first annual girls weekend!!  It was a BLAST!!!

I stocked up on food, wine, and junk food...

and even got them a "girls weekend gift" of personalized wine glasses and some more junk food.

We had the BEST time!!!!!!  We had wonderful meals (YUM!!!), girl talk, lots of sun and pool time, spa treatments (I had the BEST facial EVER), drinks, and just enjoyed each other's company:

Even saw the Redwings there warming up!

It was the most fun!!  Thanks Ann and Emily for such a wonderful weekend!! I look forward to next year!

And just a fun reminder of how far we have come from our "awkward days":
