Happy Easter

Hippity, hippity, hop!!  We had a wonderful Easter, and hope that you and your loved ones did as well! It was a great family day, and reminded us of all of the wonderful blessings that we have.

On Saturday we started our "Easter prep".   When I was a kid, I remember my mom often made a bunny cake around Easter time.  It was a fun treat and my brother and I liked to help decorate it.  So I have started this same tradition with the girls.  We have been doing the bunny cake for several years now, and it is cute how it has become something that they always look forward to making......and eating!!!

Sprinkling and patting down the coconut for the "fuzz look".

Abby accidentally leaned into the cake and got frosting all over her shirt. But no worries....the girls decided just to lick it off!  =)

"Tah-dah!!!"
That evening we dyed Easter eggs which is one of my favorite things to do at Easter:

Then after the girls went to bed, it was time for this Easter bunny to get to work!!  When I was a kid, I remember in our old neighborhood, we would wake up on Easter morning to bunny prints everywhere outside!!  We lived on a great street that had kids the same ages as my brother and I on either side of us, and in a couple houses right across the street.  So the whole street got into it it seemed like!  (Of course little did we know that when we went to bed, all the moms were outside making prints down all the driveways and up and down the sidewalks.  Such great parents!!)  Now that we have kids, Eric and I have done the same thing with our girls.  Last year was the first year the bunny left prints, and the girls were REALLY excited!!  It just made the day that much more magical and believable!  So Eric stayed inside to make sure the girls were asleep and wouldn't catch me through a window making prints, and I was outside with my stencil, flour, and sifter printing away!!  =)  Then Eric and I filled baskets and candy eggs and got all ready for the following morning:

This bunny was good and was up at 5:30 to hide eggs out in the backyard (we hide the hard boiled ones,  so I couldn't do it the night before).  Ella was the first one up and was SOOOOO excited to see that the Easter Bunny had come and left prints outside!!

Then it was time to dig into her basket:

Shortly after, Abby woke up and was JUST as excited to see the bunny prints and dig into her basket!

We always give the girls books from us in their chair envelopes on Easter.

The Easter Bunny got the girls these great outdoor toys to play with.

Finally after Daddy woke up, it was time to hunt for eggs!!  They had a BLAST!!!! They loved following the trail of prints too, to see where the bunny went.  Looks like he went on the little slide, in the playhouse, and maybe stopped to play in the sand box before he hid all the eggs.  =)

Then they went out to the front and saw that the bunny left MORE prints!!  They saw he must have come across the grass and up the walkway right to the front door:

The girls had a fun morning playing outside with their games and bubbles.  It was a bit windy out, but still a really nice day!  Eric's parents stopped by in the afternoon to give the girls some little Easter treats, so it was nice to see them.   Afterwards, the girls went back outside to play, and had a great time playing with their new bubble blower from Grandma and Grandpa.  We had a nice dinner in the evening and just enjoyed each other's company.  It was a great family day and we have MUCH to be thankful for!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

My two favorite girls!!  I just love them SO much and am VERY blessed to be their mommy!
